Botanical Garden

Botanical Garden is the most beautiful and most visited tourist attractions in Ooty. It is a beautiful big lawn in 22 hectares, with collection of rare trees, herbal plants, different varieties of beautiful flowers, shrubs and bonsai. There is tree trunk in the middle of the garden which is estimated to be 20 million years old.

The botancial garden is maintained by The Government and is divided into 6 sections namely Lower Garden, New Garden, Italian Garden, Conservatory, Fountain Terrace and Nurseries. Ooty Lake

Ooty Lake is one of the important tourist spots. It is situated behind the central Bus Stand and also close to the Railway station. Lake is about 2.75 kms in length and 140m width. Rose Garden

Ooty Rose Garden is a very large garden, situated in the heart of Ooty and is very close from Charring Cross. This garden has been beautifully laid out in terraces with rose tunnels, pergolas and bowers with rose creepers. You can see all varieties of roses in one place and enjoy. Doddabetta Peak

The Doddabetta is the highest Peak in the Nilgiris hill which stands at an altitude of 2,637 meters. It is located on the Ooty - kotagiri road about 9 Km from Ooty. It is open all days of the week from 7AM to 6PM. It gives a breathtaking view of the Coimbatore and adjorning areas around it. It is a must see place in Ooty. Pykara Lake/ Pykara Boat House

Pykara is a calm lake surrounded by forests. A boat house by the Pykara water falls, Ooty and Dam are added attractions to the tourists. This lake is not crowded like the Ooty lake as it is slightly away from Ooty, so it is pollution and crowd free. Avalanche

Avalanche is a beautiful lake surrounded by the sliding landscape which is full of orchids and magnolias. It is a very beautiful place just 28 Kms away from Ooty, so it is not over crowded. Tourists can calmly visit the lake, do some fishing. Tourists come here mainly for trekking, through the dense forest. The lodge is under the control of forest department and rooms should be booked in advance.

Emerald Lake

Emerald lake is a beautiful lake which is located at a distance of 25 km from ooty in a place called Silent Valley. This tourist spot is loved by everyone. You can find different variety of fishes and rare birds chirping near the lake. There are resorts available here. You can enjoy fishing, trekking, bird watching, mountain biking etc.

9th Mile (Shooting Spot)

9th mile is a famous shooting spot of Tamil movies, which is exactly 9 miles (14.5Km) from the Ooty city. It is a lengthy green landscape which is surrounded by mountains. This place is also called as "Shooting Medu". Dont miss to take your family to this place.

Glenmorgan

Gelnmorgan is a village which is famous for its tea estate. Glenmorgan tea estate is one of the oldest tea estates in this region. You can see tea and eucalyptus plantations, undisturbed sholas here. The main attraction here is the rope way which connects the power station in Singara and Glenmorgan.

Kalhatty water falls

Kalhatty water falls is an amazing attraction which could be seen in Ooty-Mysore route at a distance of 13 km from ooty. It falls at a height of 40 metres. The picturesque view of this waterfalls is really refreshing to the mind. The road runs via the Kalhatty Ghats. It is situated 2,000m above main sea level on the slopes of Kalhatty. The season time is from September to November.

The Mukkurthi Peak And National Park

Mukkurthi Peak and National Park is a beautiful place, which is located at a distance of 40 km from Ooty. It is famous of trekking, picnic and amusement park. It is located on the Southern corner of the Nilgiri Plateau, attracts tourists from distinct corners. The Kollaribetta and Kudikkadu called together as twin peaks are the other major peaks which are close to this peak.

Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary

The Famous Mudumalai wild life Sanctuary is situated between Kerala and Karnataka states. Mudumalai wildlife reserve was the first sanctuary in south India. It is now declared as Tiger reserve. This is one of India's best sanctuaries. The main tourist attractions here are Elephant safari, Elephant feeding camp, museum and Moyar river where you can see the animals when they come to drink water. Sims park - Coonoor

Sim’s Park is a beautiful park located in Coonoor. You can see rare trees like Rudraksh tree, Cinnamomum, Queensland karry pine, Araucaria, Magnolia, Pine, Turpentine etc. There is a glass house housing different ornamental plants and flowers.

Dolphin Nose

Dolphin’s Nose in Coonoor is an excellent viewpoint. It got its name because the tip of the peak resembles a Dolphin's nose. You can enjoy the beautful view of Catherine Falls from here. Lambs nose is another point on the way to Dolphins Nose.

St. Catherine Water Falls

One can have a magnificent view of St. Catherine Water falls from Dolphin's Nose of Coonoor. It is about 250 feet height. It can be reached from Kotagiri at a distance of 8 kms. To reach the top of the hills tourist should take a diversion at Aravenu on Kotagiri - Mettupalayam road.

Karnataka Siri Horticulture Garden

Karnataka Siri Horticulture Garden (KSHG) is an inter-state garden of the Karnataka Government established amidsts the hilly landscape Fern Hills. It is located 1.5 Km from Ooty lake and 3 Km from Railway Station. Topiary Garden lawns, Flowers beds, Italian Garden, Maze Garden, Rose Garden, Sunken Garden, Check dams and Tea Garden are the main features in this garden. It is a new attraction in Ooty and a must see place.
